Just look at the Wii section on Play.com. They're taking preorders for Wii games and have set prices of £49.99 across the board!

Play are usually decent on price, so I doubt they're jacking up the price on the back of the Wii's strong showing at E3. Perhaps this is just a preliminary pricing set by Play.com so that they can lower it once Nintendo set a European RRP. If not there's no way in hell I'll be getting a Wii, no matter how cheap the console is at launch.

I'll take this with a pinch of salt for the time being but I really hope those games come down to a reasonable pricing by the time launch comes around.

It's probably not real, there is not reason for Wii games to be that expensive, they come on DVD's, the devkits are cheap and the production cost are most likely to be lower then for the 360 or ps3. The only thing that could jack up the price that much would be add-ons for the controller.

I bet they either have no clue or got the $ and pound sign mixed up.

Yeah I was thinking they've set a high price so that they can lower it when Ninty set the actual price, rather than pricing too low and having to honour that price when the RRP is actually higher.

But in the back of my mind I can't let go of the nagging thought that it's the games and not the consoles that make the money. And with the Wii set to be so low they may try and claw back as much money as they can through the games.

Just have to wait and see.

Well with Nintendo it's both. There consoles have almost always made money.
The gamecube gave them a lot of profit.

do not beleive anything unless it comes from the mouth of a nintendo sales rep

I doubt wii games will be priced that high.

Their development kits cost only $2000 was it? Really cheap anyway. Games should be cheaper, if anything.
