I think so.
Xenium may sound more like nomenclature of some chemical element but we have also minerals like Corundum, Gypsum etc.
But Gordon's doctoral thesis was about ...Induction Through Nonlinear Transuranic Crystal... so, Xen crystals may contain some transuranium element (in the island of stability) yet unknown for today's human science which was later named Xenium.

Yeah, it's an obvious 'portal technology' reference. Xenium = Xen crystal. Resonator is a reference to the 'resonance cascade' of HL1.

I think he meant that Magnusson designed the resonator and that the Xen science came after the accident.
