I was wrong in my assumption in the other thread - the visual effects were atrocious. The 3D was technically top notch (actually still kind of shitty), but holy hell the compositing was disgusting. ILM screwed up big time with this.

Digital Domain has really outdone themselves with this. It's even crazier when you(3D artists) take into account that they're using mental ray which is not a reyes renderer.

I'm going to venture a guess and say that the visual effects will not be shitty. They have ILM at the helm, and ILM is the best. Their effects may not fool you all the time, but they're ahead of everyone else and the first movie you see that tricks your eye completely will be worked on by ILM.
