Wut D:

Hmm, just shows how much crazy stuff is going on in the depths!

*listens to Leviathon by Mastodon putting Evo in a weird deeep sea mood*

Best ive heard of is a Great White Shark that was mistaken for a small submarine in South Africa by a Lifeguard patrol. They radio'd in and said that a small submarine was 'sailing' too close to the shoreline, and were told there were no submarines in the area. And then they saw a dorsil fin breach the surface. Its was roughly 12-15m long. Biggest known dont even reach 10m...

...Egad...

If you were eaten by one of these phallic beasts, would it count as a form of docking?

Aww, I can't post an explanatory picture or link, it's too disgusting :(

Nope. The average size for an adult Great White is around 4-4.5m (12-14ft long). I believe the largest ever caught was somewhere in the region of 8m (~26ft).

Makes you wonder what other species are down there. Bet theres a lot we have yet to discover.

Ahh crap i put ft instead of metres!

Edited!

There was also a rumour going around that its fin was as tall as a sailboat...however tall that is lol.

Oh, Oh, here's some things to look for and avoid during a shark attack:

- Listen for the music
- Swim near fat people
- If you do get attacked, dont scream. You'll upset all the tourists and people trying to relax on the beach.

Aw damnit, so now as well as getting my legs chewed off, I've got AIDs to worry about?

How come all the kickass creatures are extinct or live miles under the ocean?

Because the deep ocean breeds monsters.

Fsck the deep, man.

No this was a confirmed Great White shark. Apparently they recorded it, but i wasnt at home in SA at the time so never saw it. I actually was reading another article about it over christmas, debating wether it was all a hoax or if it was actually possible that one could be that..monstrously big. But its also believeable at the same time, as look what we keep finding nowadays. Giant squids, jelly-fishes, 'blobs', weird sharks etc etc.

Sure it wasn't related to this?

If not I'd be very interested if you could find any more information on it. I can't seem to find any reference to the case on google.

I actually think that would be the one. 'The Submarine' definitely rings a bell as it were.

Ignoring the shark and helicopter part (hell that photo was in the National Geographic for photo of the year if i remember right), im pretty sure that could be it. And i posted that national geog thing BEFORE i realised it talks about it on wikipedia lol.

Wether its a rumour, over exagerated or actually DID happen, we'll never know. Its a great story/read/listen though. Makes you think...

Fish never stop growing. It is entirely possible for a shark to grow to that size, IF it lives long enough.

Problem is they require a LOT of food.

Did you guys hear about the guy in NSW who almost got killed by a Great White Shark? He was half-way into the shark's mouth and escaped by punching it and poking it in the eye.

I heard that yesterday. I just caught the very end of a newscast.

Seems logical to me. I thought it was common knowledge sharks close their eyes when they attack.

They like their eyes, and this guy probably knows some marine biology.

Here's the National Geographic fake picture:
