If there's one thing I never liked about my body, it's my skin. I'm quite sabaceous and it pisses me off. I take a shower at least once a day and in a mere hour or so, my skins all oily again. :flame:

Do any of you have this same problem?

I've heard others jokingly say that it's a throwback from my Italian genepool and there's not much that can be done about it except get older.

The only way I can see to combat this would be to douse myself in talcum powder after showering, but that would mean I would go through about three jugs of the stuff in just a few days. I've tried soaps that aren't quite as harsh as to not overdry the skin, (overdrying is a primary cause apparently) but not much difference tbh. Any suggestions? :|

Your entire skin is oily or mostly just your face?

An oily complexion keeps your skin youthful (limits wrinkling), so at least when you are old you will be thankful.

My back, chest, neck, and face, so yeah I guess you could say my entire skin. :P

My face is the worst though. I can take a paper towel and wipe two gallons of the stuff from my forehead to cook french fries for the entire family. :hmph:

It wouldn't bother me except that it gets all over anything I lay on for too long.

Remind me not to eat over at your house.

If I were you, I'd wash your face (neck and back as well - just use a washcloth) twice a day with Clearasil daily face wash or a generic version.

if that doesn't help, i'd be surprised. You might want to do some online searches or see a dermatologist if it's as bad as you say. Also, cutting back on oily foods makes a big difference.

Yeah. It's the secret recipe for all of our fried foods. :hmph:

I might have to try this first though.

...before trying these options. I'll still do some online searching though.

TBH, we hardly eat at all anymore. Budget's been very tight lately. :p When we do eat though, it's usually foods with lots of butter in them, fried stuff like you said, or homemade Italian.

yeah.

You may have heard that soap over-dries your skin. The first thing that happens is that your skin overcompensates by creating more oil, making the situation worse.

I sometimes hate my skin.
But at the moment it's behaving.

I beat my skin every morning so it doesn't get out of line

Oh, I don't know. So why has the budget been very tight?
Our household income combined is about $90,000 a year, but due to some bad decisions in life my father made, (credit, loans, property taxes, etc.) we only see about $300 or less a week. Plus, my tuition takes every red cent I've got. That's changing though next year after I graduate.

I also do a few odd technician type jobs here and there for people I know and they usually pay me pretty good. My sister just paid me $100 for example just to reformat her HDs on a Dell laptop and desktop and install XP. (Vista was pre-installed)

Thank you Microsoft. You've made Vista a very lucrative business for me lately. :D

Uhh, that didn't sound right. Or was the pun intended?

yeah.

Exactly. Does Clearasil make body wash type stuff or is most of their products aimed mainly towards facial applications?

ITT white pasty nerds
Actually, I have a darker complexion than most white and pasty nerds.

This here ain't exactly the suburbs in these parts where I'm from, so I probably do alot more outside work than most other nerds do too. :P

Get some soapless face cleanser, and wash your face with it at least twice a day and you'll have a much less oily face. Don't use a washcloth as someone suggested though, that's like using sandpaper on your face. Just use your hands.

The only reason I suggested a washcloth was so that he could wash his neck as well - like in a hurry or something. I mean, you can use it lightly with the Clearasil face wash.

I don't know if they make a body wash, though I'm sure there is something out there that would fit the bill.

Was on the train a few weeks back and there was this asian bloke on there with heavily pockmarked skin... the sun hit the side of his face and reflected (somewhat diminished) into my eyes...

to quote stoney from encino-man...SO ****IN" GREASY!

homer: hmmmm.....greasy

you: mr manager......help me!

Can't say I like my skin either, I got a few stretch marks, or striae, on the upper half of both my arms (may be due to weightlifting, not sure) and one huge on the left side of my waist. It's annoying and really embarrassing. o__________o

And I'm whiter than a albino bloke too, but that's because I'm a Swede.

Living in Florida might have something to do with it. It's so humid there that I always felt sweaty and gross. I don't feel like that in California, except after exercising heavily.

My face is really oily at work, but as long as I keep it washed it stays nice a pimple-free

Negros.

Wait, isn't that what this thread is about?

Interesting thing happened with my skin recently. I noticed that when it's humid the oilyness goes away. My skin has acted pretty much normal the last week or so.

It was during the much dryer winter/early spring season that I noticed that my skin was super greasy. :p

I wonder if a similar scenario mentioned by others here about how the skin "over compensates" came into play during the dryer periods? Stupid skin and it's oil production miscalculations. :P

I should fire the region of my brain responsible for such autonomous functions and hire a new one.

Not to mention the fact that I believe talc is believed to be a cancer causing substance nowadays.

I have dry skin :(

Me too. I have fairly bad eczema on the back of hands as well. ****ing itchy and annoying! :frown: I had bad eczema on my eyes once. that was hell. My eyes were really red and dry and so ****ing itchy; I was scratching them all the time and it got worse. :frown: :(

I've got the Neutrogena face wash crap. Use it morning and night, and whenever I think I ought to in between.

Anything that dries out your skin will help tbh.
