E3 2006 \ Metal Gear Solid 4 Teaser Trailer (PS3)

*gasp*

I was watching the 15 minute trailer and thought that it was pretty nice and all.

Then I saw the 2 minute sequence in the end... mindblowing!



...I'm going to watch it again.
 
In previous MGS titles, cutscenes were enhanced by depth of field and other effects, but it is ingame.

Edit: I watched the 15 min trailer again, I think I understand more now.

Snake has to kill Liquid before he dies, he is the only one who is capable of doing so.
 
i thought deusexmachina said that he read that Koj said snake would not be killed off in mgs4 :/

anyway the theories have already started on the trailer at the major mgs forums, check out IGN's one too, some interesting discussions there, some guys can really spot stuff i'd never see even after the 20th time i watch the trailer.
 
I just downloaded this 15 min trailer and it's really great! But also 3 min trailer looks cool, presentation of characters is awesome - they looks so cool, now I can say I love Raiden :)
 
Kojima did in fact state that Snake doesn't die in the game.

Then again, he could've been lying...
 
Indeed, Kojima seems to have a tough time with decisions, I mean, didn't he state MGS2 would be his last MGS game atleast once, then MGS3 and now he's doing MGS4?:p
 
Don't forget finding out to everyone's surprise what happened after the Tanker episode ;).
 
The thing is a lot of people complained about raiden and wanted snake, and again there were tho's boo's when the teaser for mgs4 was shown at E3 2k5.
Now in MGS4 he made Raiden look dammed cool, and snake an old man.
The big Irony of mgs4 might be that people will want to play as raiden but Hideo won't let them, they will have to play with an old geezer. Or MGS2 might be reversed, people will be surpirsed that they start playing as raiden and be like WTF, and then in about 1/5 of the game you get to play as snake, and you're even more Like WTF.
In any case is there an HD trailer downloadable of the extended version.
 
Where can I download the 15 minute trailer? The one of Kojima's site wouldn't let me download and when I streamed it to WMP it kept on stuttering and lagging up.

Me wants to see. :(

Just remmeber you have to download both the zip files and then start extracting, the whole file is 105 mb large when unpacked.

I can see this being another half Snake, half Raiden game. Since Snake aparently commits suiside or something, and the fact that Raiden is getting alot of press.
 
WhiteZero, we don't actually get to see Snake commit suicide and with Kojima saying he does NOT die in the game, it could go both ways.:)
We'll have to wait and see!
 
i'm still wondering about big boss since it appears he was in the original art lineup for the game, whats his deal with the story?
 
I'm wondering, which persons grave was Snake visiting in the beginning?
At first I thought it was The Boss's but then I remembered it's SNAKE we're playing, not Big Boss!
Do you guys have any good guesses?

Anyone surprised? Heck, iirc he even stated that Subsistence was merely a "test-platform" for the online-system in the next MGS game, back when Subsistence was announced or so :p
And also, always take what Kojima says with a grain of salt, remember how insanely many times he said he'd stop making MGS games?;)
All I'm saying is Kojima has a hard time deciding on these things..

Anyway, to anwer my own question in the previous post, do you guys think it might be Frank Jaeger(Gray Fox)'s grave he might be visiting?:)

That's my guess. Though, I don't know how anyone would be able to get his bodily remains.
 
I see lots of bio-technology in the game....what if he's not shooting himself but doing a strange injection of these nanomachines? or something along those lines. or what if it's a cutscene you have to watch if you let meryl die or something.
 
He might just pull the gun out of his mouth seconds later...

Or maybe Solid Snake and Liquid Snake are the same person =O. Snake shoots the back of his mouth, killing Liquid while the Pixies "Where is My Mind" plays in the background :P

Also, if you guys bother to remember the teaser from last years E3, where Snake and Raiden fight over the "Main Character" chair, Snake throws Raiden over a cliff... but at the end Raiden climbs back up.

now thats intersting, really sounds like this is it for the series :O attempting to tie the whole series from the 1st metal gears on the mxs to ps1, ps2, psp etc must be a real headache for koj...

Well, I dunno if Konami is like several other large japanese gaming companies, but iirc it is, it's partially ruled by its stockholders, who hold votes on big decisions, one of these big decisions will probably include "ending" the official Metal Gear saga, do you think they'll vote yes?
I doubt that highly, seeing as they benefit from Konami making more and more money, which they'd probably do with more and more MGS games..
I myself am actually HOPING this is the last game, because I want'em to end the saga with a big ****ing bang, and not end up having Metal Gear Solid 12 in 15 years time.:p
We'll have to wait and see I guess..
 
I don't want to see MGS turn into Final Fantasy. I mean with the what, 5 or so FF games announced at E3, it's obvious Square-Enix is just milking their franchise. I don't want to see MGS go beyond 4. Everything should end at 4. Nothing lasts forever. And I think it's time for MGS to hand in the towel. Maybe a few years later, he could make a spiritual successor to MGS that has a completely different storyline and characters and locations, but I feel the entire Metal Gear franchise should end with MGS4.
 
I think it will be cool that the next "generation" of metal gear games is whit rayden and the gameplay be changed more whit the new cyborg and the storiline and style to be not the same but similiar enough,something like resident evil 4,cuz sure konami will not like to stop the franchise
also I heard something about kojima chosing the creator of kirby to develope the next metal gear games

cuz in the interview kojima said he is not sure if they can put everything they want to put or something like that,right?

Not all graves have the body buried there, could be like a wargrave or something.

There was a spoof trailer where some MGS3 characters played that chair game, Kojima didn't get a chair and it said "No place for Hideo" then he just killed everyone and took his chair.
