After being told by my EB that has my game in stock in the back that halflife2s release date isnt till the 16th i left with a sad look on my face. For i had heard just a little bit before that bestbuys all over were selling the game. To check it out for myself we went to our local bestbuy and grabbed some screen shots. After takeing the screen shots i went back to the EB and told them....

Ok you said no one is selling it... Well looky here... Bestbuy has it all set up and are selling it becuase corperate told them they could becuase walmart broke street date on it. So thats why bestbuy is selling it, becuase walmart did... or atleast one person said.

Anywho to the end this lil chat i thought id post a shot of the awsome setup they had. Most of the pictures so far have been from phone cameras and such, we went prepaird

The walmarts we went too didnt have it, just the strat guide on the shelf. The eb didnt ither. Just the bestbuy.

You're average joe walks in. Sees this really sweet looking game called HL2 (He may or not have heard of... probably has) and decided to buy it on the spot.


Soo, he gets out his hard earned money. Hands it over and walks home really happy.



Now imagine how upset he is gona be when it doesnt install properly!





What does the average gamer do when a game doesnt install properly.....

He takes it back to the store and asks for a refund or a replacement copy

Techiuncally, no other stores can be fined after the first...so stores can go ahead and put it on the shelves. At least that is how it wroks with other games...but we all know this one is unique. Alot of controversy over the release...I love it! From what i saw today...there is really no need to advertise the game...

I love it how noobs think companies can sue bestbuy for selling a game early. No such thing happens. At my best buy, we put games out as soon as we get them because the EB in the same mall always breaks street dates to compete with us. The only thing that happens if something is put out early (and mind you, it usually has to be something big, like halo 2 for example), we *might* get fined $2000 per copy sold early, or get our next vivendi shipment or release delayed a few days or a week, or worst-case-scenario, lose the right to carry their product, which would be retail suicide for vivendi... for them to not sell their product in one of the largest retail chain in the world.
And for that matter, Pc games hardly sell in my area. Mostly consoles. Even I head on over to EB to pick up games we don't always get as soon. I just like buying them at work because of my employee discount. Anyways, you can bet I'll be pushing people to buy HL2 to the point that they'll think I'm a rep for Valve or something. LOL. I'm already preaching to everyone that it'll be "best fps ever... period" like a raving fanatic. I pity the poor fools who stick to their consoles.

I find this decision on Best Buy's part rather surprising - just look at how unofficial the whole affair looks. They might as well have not paid any attention to Wallmart, because it would only be them that get attacked by disgruntled newbies.
