The Beatles - Revolver

I have a confession.

I've never listened to any complete Beatles album before.

I posted about it in an albums-you-missed thread on a different forum. Revolver happened to be first suggested in a list. So here I am.

And I'm enjoying this. :p

Yeah!
But in about 5 minutes I won't be in that club anymore. :p
Here's the list I'm going through: revolver, abbey road, sgt. pepper, white album
But not all tonight as it's almost 1 AM.

[edit]
final impression on revolver -- started out good, ended up being rather underwhelming
...forging onwards

Heh, this is the exact same reaction I've had to pretty much every Beatles album. Good songs, good production, well-arranged, but ultimately not as legendary as they're made out to be.

Been working on this progressive post-hardcore song for the last 2 days..its still very much incomplete..lacks vocals..but do give it a listen and tell me what you think. I made the drums using guitar pro, the rest were my guitar with effects from my korg pedal..no speeding up or anything..

i think the transition from 25s to 31s plus is awesome..lol selfpraise..

hey n stigmata..i forgot completely about making guitar stuff so you can program..ill try ta do some..maybe send u an instrumental of this if you wan

Yep, listening to the others didn't much improve my opinion. But... Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End was a pretty darn awesome album ending :).

Listening to a little bit of Sunset Rubdown. Usually I don't much like hyperactive songs but I'm liking this one. And it's fun to watch.

And they have a significantly less hyper version, so double win:

also i kinda want a glockenspiel. or whatever it is she's playing there.

Nice.

Burzum - Valen

A new Burzum Album. If you haven't heard of Burzum by now, you probably shouldn't be listening to it.

I have no idea what the **** he's saying, but I'm pretty sure it's something cool.
Burzum is a musical project by Varg Vikernes (originally under the pseudonym "Count Grishnackh"). It began during 1991 in Bergen, Norway and quickly became prominent within the early Norwegian black metal scene.[1] During 1992 and 1993, Burzum recorded four albums; however, in 1994 Vikernes was convicted and imprisoned for the murder of guitarist Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth and the arson of several churches. While imprisoned, Vikernes recorded two studio albums in the dark ambient style, using only synthesized instruments.

This song gets good. I like these kind of bands that remind me of the earliest horror films.

1:03... oh hell yes. If you sent me instrumentals of this, that would be great. I've been itching to lay out some drum tracks.

Eeeehhh..

Anyway, I saw Jaga Jazzist was posted some time ago so I thought I should post one of their weirder off-shoots; Shining. While they started out as a normal jazz-band, for their latest album, Blackjazz (2010), they decided to try and fuse black-metal and jazz. "Blackjazz".

I really like the "chiptune" stuff they do occasionally in the song.

^Ah shit. I don't like when genres are mixed so abruptly. It's ****ing confusing. I'm more of a purist. But I do like chiptune music, the good stuff gets me high.

soulslicer, that was really original and really, really good. I really like your style. If you can keep the creativity flowing while you've got it, you should do it. The more different songs or song demos you have, the better your chance of success. You can polish them up later, or let a professional producer do that when you get a deal.

Been listening to a pretty good amount of stuff lately

First is Deerhunter, recently picked up Halcyon Digest and can't really stop listening to it. Especially like Helicopters, Desire Lines and Revival.

Also got the album Tender Buttons from Broadcast, after reading about the singers death. Not my usual kind of thing, but I'm digging it.

I read a comment about these guys somewhere (possibly on their site) that described them as imaginary car chase music. Couldn't be more spot on, as listening to this makes me want to dive into an 80s action movie.

This is the song that plays in the credit-reel car chase. Driving out into the dusty hills, hair whipping in the sunset, firing your six-shooter blindly through the trail of dust in the rearview mirror.

Also soulslicer, clear your PM box! :p

He looks like an absolute asshole dressed like that. Not that great of a song (so far) either. Anyway...

Just got the new(ish) Four Tet album, really like Love Cry.

Pretty big Animal Collective kick lately too, led to some getting down with Avey Tare. Very experimental, kind of like early AC.

Join the Dots from Roots Manuva is also pretty awesome. Chali 2NA is just funny to listen to.
