Honestly, watch the film Night at the Museum and look for the scenes where Ben Stiller meets the old men he will replace - the black man looks and sounds almost exactly like Eli Vance. It's uncanny!

His name is Bill Cobbs :) And yeah, he does look like Eli Vance...

Edit: I knew I had seen him somewhere, but I scrolled down to see what else he was on, and apparently he was the bus driver on The Drew Carey Show..That's probably where I remember him from :P
 
He's an excellent character actor, keep him in mind for the film!

You read wrong. Its based on some guy who was holding a sign and looking for work in the street.

The force of Raising The Bar is too strong.
 
Yeah it was some homeless guy...I hope they paid him a decent amount of money (maybe sorted him out with some work as well).
 
Yes, he was based off a hobo, how awesome is that.

But it's a good thing we've never heard this before :P
