I remember Malfunction made some thread about free trials ages ago - I got into it pretty good, even got into some outfit and for some reason my trial lasted two days longer than it was supposed to

If it's similar to how it was years ago, how high you are in rank doesn't give you anything else apart from the use of a few more guns and vehicles, so those on the free accounts aren't at a great disadvantage.
