Going for BCs is a challenge and a risk, but if you start with reapers (which I rarely do anymore since everyone expects it) or go straight to marauder/marine combo, you can pretty easily tech into BCs. You see the best augmentation to M&M is medivacs. Stim packs+ 3-4 medivacs is truly brutal. The thing is, if you get in a situation where you're evenly matched and either you retreat or both of your forces, you can transition to fairly early BCs. Since you have the starport for the medivacs, you can either build a quick tech bay or drop it on one of the barrack tech bays while you're throwing a fusion core together and you have the necessities for BCs. Build a second Starport and you're well on your way to your invincible fleet. There is some time there though where you're at risk since BCs take an eternity to create. Plus they're nearly useless against a mass of smaller units like marines. The thing is, you can manuever them into great positions where they can beat the bejesus out of a base and then scoot away.

Really, I'd go for banshees if I was facing terran or possibly protoss minus a thousand photon cannons because they'ref aster and just as good at taking out ground targets.

Really I feel bad that I've been so successfull with M&M.... Yesterday I took out a zerg player before he could kill more than a supply depot and a bunker. He tried all the tircks, but once I built up my force and hit the middle (where I encountered a ton of zerlings) he didn't manage to kill a single unit I had out there thanks to my medivacs. I stimmed and took them all out and he quit before I even hit his base.

That being said, no two battles are exactly the same. My strategy doesn't always work and involves some good timing and prudent micro. If I don't win in my big assault I'm fairly far behind due to my lack of expansion...

Humm... I'm pretty sure the login is still f'd up in SC2. Today I logged in and I'm down three ranks, my score is down. And in my played games I have games of which I have no demos. Sigh.

Edit: DEAR GOD the guy who played on my account is BAAAD. First drone after 11s in to the game. How do you do that!

I think we have an explanation for your loss of three ranks.

Btw you guys on the US servers. Is that baneling/muta composition in regular use? Granted I'm only in gold league but still I have never seen this in use. I only see some early busts with ling/bane.

I've seen basically everything but Muta/Baneling.

anybody still need a beta key? i've got an extra, and figured why not give it out here.

pm me, and if i like your name or avatar it's yours.

edit: gone!

No Mutabanes here... whenever I see a zerg it's zergling rush, then either a lot of mutas, mutas and roaches, or mass hydras.

It's really surprising how well MMM works so far in the game for Terran. I actually won a game the other day with a ton of vikings. I wish you guys could see the replay. It was a 2v2 but my partner died (and ultimately disconnected) but I used the vikings to kill carriers and ultimately TWO montherships. I walled my expansions in with turrets and a planetary fortress and... well... it was really just an amazing win. I still don't know how I did it. It was like one of those situations where you have no cognitive understanding of the actions taking place but you're doing them instinctively.

I'm really tired and that's probably terribly written, but it was really great.

Yeah, I remember having quite the laff when Diggity came out with that. =P

I'm totally going to be trying out muta/baneling next time I'm in a ZvT. Looks like a great strategy. I've been using banelings quite a bit as zerg, for both T and P and they can be very useful. I've been trying to incorporate infestors to my game but they usually don't last long enough.

My friend and I just got a beta key a couple of days ago by preordering. We're pretty bad but by looking up some build orders for terran/protoss which we play we got 5 wins and 0 losses in the 2v2 placement league by massing marauders & marines and some protoss units and they usually went down in the first attack ~10 or so minutes into the game. So we instantly got to platinum league but there we're getting destroyed. 4 losses and 1 win I think. We lost to rushes like 6 pool zergling rush, zealot rush and reaper harass :(. Need to learn how to counter them! Just finished placement league in 1v1 aswell and got to Gold league but haven't played any matches in there yet. Almost everyone loses to Marines and Marauders so far, the only one I lost to was another terran massing marines & marauders aswell but I lost because of some bad macroing.

The worldwide release date for Starcraft 2 has been set for July 27th. This includes the United States, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Your Destructoid link confuses me.

Man each new mod that people are working on looks to be even cooler than the last! I expect amazing things from the mapping communities.

Had a crazy game the other day, me and a friend were both Protoss up against double-Zerg. Game goes into late-game, we've got mass ground and they went mass Broodlords, head on with some Blink micro I think we could have taken them but we were out of position when they attacked and the game turned into a base race. So all four players have lost their bases and are frantically building what they can with some workers around the map while trying to find where the enemy's final buildings are. We ended up winning with a single revealed pylon left :D

Should have gone mass void rays... that's what cool people do. Then get a mothership which seems to have the same problem arbiters did originally - they cloak everything and become the only targets.

You know the only mothership ability I've seen in action is the warp thing which basically does nothing but say "hey your units are going to have to stay here for a minute. I know it has other abilities but no one seems to use them.

The last game I played with my friend, he was random and ended up being Terran, and I always play Terran - and we faced two terrans. We all prepared for an MMM by getting siege tanks but obviously since we all prepared it didn't happen. Then he and I built a ton of thors that did some damage but didn't win. He rebuilt all of the thors but I went for BCs which ended up winning it for us. BCs are just so ridiculous now. I'm sure if they just built like 20 vikings they could have beaten them, but vs other BCs and bases, they're pretty much unstoppable.

I just got hard evidence that Terrans are the race of all years!

I was playing TvT, I opted to go for a fast thor, the second my Thor came out of the factory I just heard "Thor is here!" and then the other guy disconnects (by accident I'd guess but still funny :p).

I'm not a Thor fan... they're too slow. But I did see a good Thor drop from a medivac (which I think is against the laws of physics) which was pretty classy. They can 2 shot a queen and barrage a hatchery to death in seconds.

I still think they're too slow for any decent micro... and I dunno why they dont have at least a little ground splash damage...

Probably because nobody would ever use tanks ever again if they did. As it stands Thors do absolutely ridiculous damage to ground anyways. 50x2!! :O And they're stupidly hard to kill.
I'm not sure why I don't use them more as Terran...I was actually going to try Thor/Viking against Letters last night but he rushed me heavy with ling/hydras and ended it fairly early.

I really hope they get an overhaul at least for the MP. They need to be smaller and more mobile. For singleplayer I think they are pretty sweet.(not including the seizure inducing color parade of the unit portrait)

How dare you. The Thor wouldn't be a Thor if not for its size. It would just be a f*ggy Goliath. And it's voiced like Arnold, and Arnold drives a Hummer. Just sayin.'

Didn't see this patch coming. Phoenix are so sexy to use now.

The new Phoenix!

Very interesting patch. I do like a lot of the changes, more-so than some previous ones. The Phoenix looks sick in action but now they are going to give an abortion to every other air unit.

Oh jesus. Phoenix is hax! Also THOR NOOOOO! :( But yay for Battlecruiser I guess.
