I finally did my AP exams (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics) that I had been studying for for the past month. (Macro was a little difficult, but micro was easy.)

I also took the national mock examination (mandatory). Besides the 3 mandatory subjects (Maths, Language, English) I chose Politics, Economics, Economic Geography, and Contemporary History: Korea.

Aced politics (Got one question wrong), although I've never even learned the subject. :p Compared to my other subjects, it's probably my best.

I thought that having studied for the AP Economics tests, the National Examinations Economics would be a piece of cake. However, it seems that Korean standards of education are much, much higher than the west, or just ****ing difficult.

Now all the kids in my school are now prepping for the TEPS-an english proficiency test (I don't need to, cause I've got the 2nd highest score in record :P), while I'm studying for the frigging end-term examinations, which there are 7 weeks remaining.

I wanted to play Portal, COD4, Vegas, and whatever. I'd been looking forward to them, when I realized that I don't even have time to get on HL2.net that often like I used to, much less play computer games on my now-nonexistant computer.

Oh well, I've got roll-call coming up in a few minutes now, and then I'm off to home, where I haven't been in a month or so.

Jebus, Numbers, you're like some sort of god-damn genius.

He can also kill with a glance. Women with low-cut shirts beware.

Numbers does type surprisingly good English.

Better than many English-only speaking people.

English is a mandatory subject?

For South Koreans, yes.

Which is surprising why in Lost Sun didn't speak English until she took lessons, and Jin didn't speak English at all. really.

Lol, no. There are about a hundred more students who get way better grades than me at my school. According to the mock examinations and the Ministry of Education, there are about 40,000 students my age that do better at language than me, and about 100,000 that do better than me at maths.

English seems to be my best subject. :p

I like miniskirts. :(

Thanks:D

English is a mandatory subject?

Yeah.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work that well. :p

English is surprisingly hard for Koreans; we don't seem to be able to grasp the concept of "the" and "a".

Wow, Numbers you do economics too. It's bloody hard, so hard to score in essay writing and stuff. What's your iq numbers?

I had a similar problem when trying to learn German. Das, die, der

??????? ****.

and similarly with Spanish.

What are your Politics exam papers like numbers? O.o

Not just in Korea, pretty much most of Asia is ultra-competitive, especially when it comes to education. It's more of a tool used to segregate students by distinguishing those eligible for University education and those who aren't (getting a proper tertiary education is a big deal). Learning is secondary to what is essentially memorizing everything in order to prepare to take a single test that will essentially determine your future at every level.

Personally I think the system sucks but you have to roll with it.

I think numbers activity on English language forums has helped him clearly.

You're welcome numbers.

Lawl :p Well done!

That always confused me as well. German was my best foreign language in school (well, we only did German and French!!!), but now I've forgotten a lot of it!

I hardly retained any of it.

i can say glove in german. "handshue" or something. My brother and his wife took 3 or 4 years of german in college though so he told me that. He said a lot of german is like that. Hand shoe = glove

in school about the only thing I remember is 'birthday' - Geburtstag

I just took one year in HS, but it was so long ago and I never used it in the real world.

Yeah, it's easy to forget that English isn't Numbers' first language.

Sounds like a hectic week. Reward yourself with a 100 hour gaming binge when you've got everything out of the way.

...and the mighty Korea triumphed over the hated Japanese, humiliated the smelly Chinese and killed all the dastardly Communists everywhere.

A+

:P

I'll put that in the curriculum when I become president-for-life :p

Yeah, I hated the essay questions. I think I got the location of the deadweight loss thing wrong. :/

Around 143, last I checked.... IQ doesn't matter much, imo. All the best students do it through sheer work, whereas the lazy (like my 156 IQ friend), get barely passable grades.

Oh yeah, I hate the system. It's like battle royale but with pencils and OMR test marking cards.

What are your Politics exam papers like numbers? O.o

You know, the whole "goverment is formed through a contract" theory, and things like Garymandering, the types of representation, and then they give you a graph to analyze whats wrong with the election system and whatnot.

Hehe. I think I've learned most of my english writing skills on hl2.net. :D

Ah, I wish.

I'm not gonna be able to play games much until I graduate, and hopefully enter a university. I'm aiming for the Korean Military Academy (our equivalent of West Point), currently at least.
