My mother didn't appreciate it. My dad played the original Half-Life before I did. He's played Half-Life 2, but not any of the episodes.

But I don't live with them, so my opinion apparently doesn't count.

My parents don't care too, but my dad actually likes Half-Life. I mean it's classic.
