Who friggin cares that a girl play's videogames?

I just noticed something. A friend of mine (who was a girl) played on XBOX Live not that long ago. She was harassed very badly. But when she played a PC game online, no one seemed to care, even tho they herd her voice. What the hell is the difference? And something that creeps me out... Most guys play as girl characters in most games...

Console gamers haven't become desensitized to women on the internet. They've never had to put up with attentionwhores, camwhores, Grrl Gamerz, etc., etc. So when a girl shows up on Halo 3 guys are like, "OMG A GIRL! There's a girl! Playing a game!"

Are you kidding me? There may be more but that doesn't make console gamers immature and PC gamers mature. I have seen so many females harassed on PC games it's not even funny. I have played with lot's of girls in halo and they didn't get harassed. It happens in both worlds because idiots play all sorts of games. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Hardly a day goes by where someone doesn't get harassed by someone. Me especially. Gender is irrelevant, but it is a fact there are just less females online playing games at any given moment, so it is "fun" to target them.

I have never heard a girl actually speaking on Xbox Live. I think most of them are too afraid (or non-existant).

On the topic of young guys though, I swear to god I was playing Call of Duty 4 yesterday with a FOUR YEAR OLD. His voice and the way he spoke was enough to prove it. People made fun until he started kicking ass...

If there are more mature people on one platform than the other then that platforms users overall are more mature. Simple. From my experience I've played mostly with people in the 20-30 year old bracket on the PC and only ever occasionally get the random young person. That or the young people are surprisingly quiet and hence have not insulted anyone. Playing on my Xbox is a whole other story, I seem to only be able to find young people.

Heh... that doesn't prove anything though. I need statistics. The Sims while being incredibly popular, still doesn't account for the numerous video games that draw upon a male audience.

Don't get me wrong though, females make up a large presence, but they don't outnumber males. If I'm not mistaken, I think once I read somewhere that like 60% of PC gamers are males.

That shows considerably that females DO make up a huge presence, but are far from being the dominant presence.

That mere fact that males make up 60% and females make up 40% means that even with the sims(which is a PC game), females are only close to being equal to the number of male gamers(despite being 20% lower of total makeup among PC gamers), not surpassing them by some astronomical margin like you claim.

All this information only goes to support my above statement... women aren't such a rarity in gaming circles that I feel the need to make a big deal whenever I see one.
