One of my biggest favorite intros of all time is Dune II.

THE most beautiful and masterfully crafted introductory sequence in the history of gaming. Beautiful and absolutely touching. The launch sequence always sends a shiver down my spine... and this is the only game where I nearly cried at the end.

Second on my list. Sets the mood perfectly and, well... the monologue is absolutely the best written such part in intros.
