Tonight will work for me. If we can set it up we might have everybody on our team except Reginald (sorry man, this is the best we're gonna get) and he may be replaced by GF911. Logging on in a little bit to see what this adds up to.

And Hool and I really have been communicating a lot back and forth, it just hasn't amounted to any real conclusions at all.

I'm starting to give up on this. It was 7PM EST and now it's 8PM EST and Sheepo isn't even on. :( Plus Dream and I and probably others won't play tomorrow because of LOST. *Wait, now he is online but now everybody is offline.

Back in the good ol' days I was playing CS 1.3 or 1.4. Then CS:CZ came out, I joined a clan, I got into CAL with them, we pwned, we had fun. CyberPitz I also learned had a similar experience. We both have experience on how competitive leagues are and how they operate. Unfortunately nobody I think here, well a few, are at that level. I also think L4D doesn't facilitate (ooh fancy word) competition. Valve is taking the approach of TF2 and making it a casual game. I know that in my clan back in the day most were in my timezone as well. I also think back in the day we didn't have things such as a girlfriend, a wife, or even kids. All we had was porn, drugs, and school which was middle school. We would slack off but not anymore! Oh no, now we have actual girls, alcohol, jobs, and college. You have to put effort in college too. So what I'm basically trying to say is that this competition isn't working out because we are older now and our lives don't revolve around games like these Korean StarCraft gamers.

Tomorrow Shamrocks out and thursday I'm out, GF911 can replace us then. Friday bot Xev and I will be gone and we may have to play with a bot.

Alright. Even with all the prior confusion about this match, we were ALL in the lobby yesterday when we agreed that the match would be played today at 7pm eastern.

Today, at 7pm eastern, Hool and I and I think maybe the others on our team were online and ready to play, and nobody else was around.

Seriously, wtf? This isn't rocket science, folks. It's not that this needs to be a "summer thing". If you say you can make the time, show up. If it's a problem, say so and we can reschedule. Don't just be a tool and flake out. At least send a PM or something.

Tomorrow evening, I'm going to be watching LOST live, as it airs - not recorded or downloaded. Thanks for wasting our time this afternoon.

I'm sorry you guys keep scheduling things at certain times, oblivious to the fact that the other team can not make these times. For one thing, I was online today at 8:15 (which is when I said my team could play) and we were all online and could've played against you. I'm not unreasonably mad at you though, it's not as if I expect the other team to just magically be able to play at the same time my team is.

I'm not debating the scheduling issues leading up to Monday. Yes, that was a fiasco, but that's not what I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is how ON Monday when all 8 of us were in the lobby, we agreed on 7pm eastern on Tuesday, which incidentally is the exact time the match was originally scheduled. I don't recall any complaints about that time, and as such, I think it was fairly reasonable of us to assume that we were going to play a match at 7pm eastern on Tuesday.

I'm not throwing away the game - remember, we showed up on time - but I've got better and more important things to do with my afternoons and evenings than waiting around while everyone else gets their shit together - and yes, those better and more important things include watching LOST.

So let's make things crystal clear: I'm available any day of the week, except Wed, for games starting between 6pm and 7pm eastern, and generally any time on the weekend unless I've already got plans. Other than that, I'm either working or spending time with my wife and daughter. If we can find a new date and time that works for everyone, great. If not, I promise it won't hurt my feelings. :thumbs:
 
Well I asked several times in this thread if we should attempt a game at around 7:00 and ultimately, no one decided it was worth telling me at all. I did log in at 7:00-7:30 though, and didn't see anybody online (gonna call a steamfail on that one). Went to do some shit, then came back because it was nearing 8:15, the time that it seemed was best on their was sort of a consensus on. Just really tired of all of this shit.
 
New idea, give the time + timezone + time left. Example:

8pm est (that's 8:14 hrs from now)

A guess. I couldn't be arsed to figure out the exact time left.
 
i always seem to get one time from someone then i see another time for the other team pop up. communicate for christ sake hool and sheepo.
 
I was online yesterday when the Steam announcement said it would be starting, but nothing happened. I waited over an hour to see if it would eventually start then went to bed. I got to be up early so i don't have time staying up pass 1am to see if a game may or may not be starting.

We need a proper time agreed on here that everyone is ok with.
 
I can't believe how many consecutive **** up's in a row there have been in the last 3 days regarding this match, starting with people forgetting what day it is on.

I'm going to extend round 1 to encompass this weekend, so you will have all the days up to the 29th (Sunday) to play.

Please start sorting your shit out, this is unbelievable, please stop making petty excuses on the time of year and how your maturity affects playing a 90 minute game. Its frankly hilarious. Its also boring and possible solutions are much constructive rather than deciding its impossible.

Captains, speak with each other and agree on several times both players are available. Choose the 2/3 best times for the captains and try to accommodate as many of your team as possible in this time. You almost certainly may lose 1 player from this time but if you miss the 29th date problematic teams will default and go into the loser bracket. Find a sub, or play with 3 and a bot.

Organising is pretty shit and annoying. Once we get playing the fun of the competition will kick in, early teething problems are expected. Stick with it, it will get better. The support is here.

I resign. I no longer have the time for all this crap that goes with it. GordonFreeman911 can replace m on our team, you can decide who can be captain now. Hool has pretty much all the information for when both teams can play, and if I'm not mistaken, tonight is still the best candidate.
 
Note that we're keeping a list of people who drop out for no good reason. They'll be barred from entering future tournaments.
 
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAW. Well I hope I'm allowed to play during a summer tournament.

Reasons I quit:

-Fifth member returned and seemed able to play, didn't have spot for them.
-Got overloaded with schoolwork and sports shit.
-Steam is being a bitch to me.
 
umm there's lot of reasons to drop out...the organization right now is very poor.

i changed my schedule around so i could be playing monday or tuesday....but that failed to happen.

now i might be forced to play on a day im not able to?
 
Is someone around to help me test something out with Google Calendar? There might be a ridiculously simple way to solve these scheduling/availability issues.
 
Alright, here's what I think will work:

[Updated]
- Each individual player should register on Google Calendar (http://calendar.google.com). Add events to the calendar to block out when you are NOT available, leaving the times you are available blank.
- Players should name their calendars using the format: [team name] steam name/forum name - this way, the shared calendars will automatically sort by team. Use the FULL name of the team as specified in the team names thread.
- e.g. [The Last Stand] the interrobanger/DreamThrall
- Ideally, mods would start a new sticky thread to compile a list of everyone's google account names, and everyone adds everyone else
- To schedule a match, use the "show in list" controls on the "other calendars" settings page to show only the calendars for the players of the two teams involved. This should make it immediately apparent which dates/times are good for everyone.
- Captains should work together to pick such a date/time and communicate it to everyone.

I've already done mine - to add me, go to the "add" menu and hit "add a friend's calendar". My contact email is dan[at]dandoes[dot]net.
