Lost Season 4

The dog was barking at the dead doc if im not mistaken.

Saw that clip before and I just noticed something. When Christian said "he has work to do" so did the older Walt. I also read that Jack could be the smoke monster but idk about that theory. He was the only person in the jungle though. I mean he just fell from the sky to the island? Whenever a character is told that "he has work to do" they are the next leader. It was first Benjamin then Jack then Ben.

Well we've had a number of characters appear out of nowhere without any explination yet:

Jack in the jungle after the plane crash.

Desmond, Locke, and Eko in the jungle after the hatch implosion.

Ben appearing in the middle of the desert in the flash-forward two episodes ago.

I really doubt that Jack is the smoke monster simply because he was the only person in the jungle.

As for the "he has work to do" line, perhaps Jack's purpose was to remove Ben from power so that Locke could take over. After all, it was Jack who orcestrated the attacks on the beach in the finale of season 3, and it was him who also beat up and captured Ben.

Or maybe his purpose was to act simply as the doctor of the group and care for the important people like Locke, Claire, and Aaron.

The purge happened 12 years ago (according to Horrace). Danielle arrived on the island 16 years ago. So how the hell did she survive the toxic gas attack?

They did gas the entire Island, but I think the simple answer is, there's more to her story than she's letting on (as confirmed by the writers).

Yes, that Tempest gas. I doubt that, they could gas large part but not entire Island. Why are animals still alive then?

I believe someone (either on the show or the writers) that they gassed all of the island, but now you've me unsure.

This also brings up the issue that Alyx was kidnapped while Dharma was still on the island. Why didn't she take help of them? Hell, are we supposed to believe that Danielle or her team never ran into either Dharma or the hostiles when they crashed there, or that Danielle never met anyone else during the 16 ****ing years we were there? (She said she had never seen an Other when she met Sayid and said that she "had never seem anything like this before" when she saw the hatch.)

But Samon probably hit the nail, she must've been lying.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a retcon. But if it makes it all the more interesting, no problem.

All of these questions have made me want to see her flashbacks more. Hope we get to see it at some point.

I think Ben called her a crazy old woman when he took her daughter away. That was the episode when Alyx dies. Maybe she was just crazy idk. :stare:

Personally I think Danielle's Team was part of an earlier attempt by Widmore to recapture the island, but somewhere along the way she got pregnant (on the Journey) and a little crazy as well. Certainly I think she lied about not knowing about the Others. Maybe she was captured and held prisoner for some time before escaping, and her brain got scrambled along the way.

Either way we all know that the writers have winged the show to a fair degree at times, albeit within a broad story arch, so a bit of retcon is going on for sure.

Incidentally and slightly OT, my crazy LOST theory (one that Samon seems to like):-

the way that Widmore said 'Boy' to Ben about the Island seemed incredibly patronizing when they they confronted each other in the flash forward a few weeks back. I can't help but think that Widmore might actually be like Richard Alpert, far older than he appears. Part of me wonders if both Alpert, Widmore & Jacob (and maybe even Abaddon) were survivors of the Black Rock, and Widmore was the Captain. The Island was his discovery in effect. Widmore could just be the captains latest persona.

hmm.....members of the black rock.....that is believable but i was hoping for something a little more....mystical

There are four agents to take into account here:
The Dharma Initiative
The Hanso Foundation (led by Alvar Hanso)
Widmore
The Hostiles (The Others)

We need to work out the relation between these four. By the time Danielle landed in the island, there was a war between Dharma (founded by Hanso) and the Hostiles. Where Widmore comes into the story is a little more confusing. Either Widmore resumed financing Dharma from Hanso, or Widmore is a competitor of Hanso. A third theory is that Hanso and Widmore are actually the same people. Hanso was born 1894, making him 110 years of age, thus dead unless he possesses some of Richard's powers. The fact that Widmore bought the journal that made it possible for Hanso to find the island in the first place, makes a very strong case that The Hanso Foundation is no longer active, and its role has been resumed by Widmore (this is also the theory I subscribe to). I also believe that the Hostiles first arrived on the island on the Black Rock, but that's another story.

Now, Kadayi, if Danielle indeed was send by Widmore, was she there to observe the ongoing struggles between the hostiles and Dharma or for some other reason?

Monkey.

I quite like the idea that Hanso & Widmore are one and the same, but that Widmore had to purchase the Black Rock Log from a Hanso seems to indicate to me that they are separate people.

It could be a situation where Widmore was usurped from the Island by Hanso (perhaps they were both from the Black Rock..) and Danielle was part of a failed team sent by Widmore to oust the DI and recapture the Island again.

One thing that we did learn in last weeks episode which is of profound significance is that Mittelos Bioscience predates the Dharma Initiative by some time. Which kind of begs the question 'who exactly do they represent?'. That Richard represents them, but is clearly regarded as a 'Hostile' by the DI is an interesting one.

apols for not responding sooner, but it's been a busy week ;)

I think Hanso and Widmore are definitely very different people, especially if you take into account the Lost Experience.

Widmore Corp. still have ties to the Hanso Foundation and it was Hanso who founded DHARMA.

It's probably Widmore + Hanso - DHARMA vs. Mittelos Bioscience (Others)

Problem is that we still don't have clue about what Mittelos Bioscience (The Others, Hostiles) is, in real world they looks like science organization and on the Island like some weird cult.

I didn't think the LOST experience videos counted as proper canon to the main series tbh Samon. I could be wrong on that though. The hanso guy in the first pictures didn't much look like the bearded guy in the TLE clips tbh.

I'd hazard at a guess that they are agents for Jacob, though what their motives are..who knows. It might be given that no one can breed successfully on the Island, they have to search far and wide for suitable candidates for future people to guard the secret of the Island, but then again given Richard hasn't aged a day in 50 years......

Lindelof/Cuse confirmed it as canon.

ARGH! We have to wait two weeks for the season finale!?

ARGH! ARGH!

The fact that at the end of this newest episodes, the previews of the finale said, "In two weeks... blah blah blah epic one hour season finale"

Rather than the normal wait of one week. I don't know how lost finales have gone in the past. This season is the first I've seen on TV and caught up with, starting after episode 8.

What are you talking about?

No Lost next week due to its time slot being taken by the 2 hour Grey Anatomy finale. So we have to wait till the 29th to see the rest of the 3 part finale of Lost.

Man its gonna be a tough wait. Today's ep was such a great setup.

Wonder what Ben "How many times do I have to tell you! I always have a plan!!!" Linus is upto. What he cant even ninja slap the mercs cause he left his nightstick with Locke!

And now we know the purpose of Keamys gadget yeah? BOOM remote? Pity I was hoping for something more...... evil.

Its also probable that we'd have to say bye to Micheal, Desmond and Jin soon.

Jin can't be dead... he can't be. Sun didn't act like it, and I don't think he is dead. It only felt like she was maintaining the charade that he was.

I don't really care for Jin in any case. I just don't want Des to die! Maybe Jin escorts Sun back to the Island on the next boat trip. Could go both ways.

I cant see Des going back because he's soo bloody scared of the Island. Even with the boat rigged with enough C4 to blow it across the world.

Awesome episode!

Yeah, I sense that everybody on the boat will be killed, except for Aaron and Sun. Although that would make Michael's return pretty pointless. It was very nice to see the comeback of Richard and The Others, I think they will team with the lostaway in the future, due to the common threat.

No, that scene you saw with him off the island occured when he was off the island, before he was went back for his mission. They are all going to die except for Sun and Aaron going back. They will take the final 6 off on that chopper. The Orchid will most likely teleport the island. Also the G-Man has always been in control of The Others. My theory is that the final 6 will land on Pennys boat and the other survivors wanted to not go back to the normal world. Unfortunately they can't go back and rescue them because the island was teleported.

I know. Why are telling me this? Did something I said contradict that?

They're not going to just kill off a main character like Jin... unless it's for something epic. And being blown up on a boat by C4 is not epic.

Jin is going to be one of the people still alive on the Island and who the bad guys are asking hugo if they are still alive.

Actually I think Abbadon was asking about what happened to the freighter.

Although that would make Michael's return pretty pointless.
Michaels return wasn't pointless as I mentioned in the other post. I think Des, Jin, and Michael will go out with a big epic bang. They were looking at a wall full of C4. Gonna make a big boom when it does. :(

I agree with Samon. They aint gonna kill them off.

Was a good ep, was a great build up to the finale.

I wonder whats down in the Orchid :O

when is the finale? how many episodes are there this season? i thought it was supposed to be 16

There are 14 episodes this season in total. Originally there were going to be 16 episodes but the writers strike ended up causing them to only film up to 13(however they managed to film a 14th episode before the time was up). The finale will be on May 29th and will have 2 1 hour episodes shown.

They said they were going to mention the significance of the statue, as well as possibly the reason everybody is so interconnected. They said they would. I'm sure they said they'd mention the statue thing in this season, and didn't specify on the other thing.

They had ****ing better do it!

Oh I hope so. I would love to know about all that stuff.

It may actually happen, seeing as Claire's mom showed up and told Jack she was his sister.
