New update: Added valuable asset retrieval[br]New sound files found, and alternate ending for final fight with GLaDOS. New ASCII art has been found (currently processing).[br]

[br]The sound of a mech / droid approaches from behind then says "Thank you for assuming the party escort submission position." Chell is then dragged away...potentially for her next adventure.

Has anyone tired doing a third person camera at the end to see if there is anything dragging you away?

It's only a random texture. You can't compile a model without a material/texture for Source. I guess they randomly selected that one.

Or it's a cheeky way of saying that beans will be spilled soon.

Come on Valve, spill the beans.

heh heh...

Anyway, has anybody noticed the new dinosaur_fizzle sound effects? Named dinosaur_fizzle2 and dinosaur_fizzle3. Fizzle2 has what sounds like an advisor in it, while Fizzle3 has nothing distinctive that I can find...

what kind of ****ing knob have ending spoilers in a news article!?:dozey:

you could have left it at just mentioning an alternate end and have the video for optional viewing. no need for the last sentence.

If you are following the update feverishly, it's most likely that you've already finished the game beforehand, Prince.

I did ;-)

On a side note, I think the level of complexity of these little teasers says something about how Valve perceives its fans.

Yay Dinosaur fizzling! And Beans the escort! And goddamnit I want sequel nao!

The wait shouldn't be too long after the first media release - that seems to be the goal they were setting from the outset. That way you get a good frequency of new media without spoiling the game(s) too much before it's released.

But hell, they could just go to GDC, say "Yay Mac!" and walk off stage, never to release any new media ever again for all I know.

I wonder what the chances of someone shooting him in such a scenario would be.

Mech/Droids/Tin of beans is the G-man.

Calling it now.

Why would the G-Man change his voice and accent when speaking to Chell?

So nobody would find out he's really Gordon from the future.

I love what Valve is doing so far.

Remember that Johnson mentions Beancounters:

"A lot of you have been raising concerns about the so-called "dangers" of what we're all doing here. The beancounters told me to tell you that as of today, testing will no longer be as mandatory or as dangerous. That's not gonna happen, and here's the reason:

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: Why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: Why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired.

Plus, in the event of your death, I personally guarantee that, thanks to the form you were required to sign this morning, your family will not suffer the indignities of a prolonged and costly legal battle against Apeture Science. Trust me, I am rich, and it is a burden I do not wish on anyone.

To summarize: 6218376213 wjqehjk -213888^%@5*(*@)@)#*a@ +---+++ "

Beancounter is just a nickname, similar to "G-Man." The only reason we call it a "beancounter" is because its texture is that of beans.

where is this quote from?

So there's no possibility that Valve could be referencing something that they had in the plot which they developed a new idea for?

I think that the thing talking is Cave Johnson in one of these:

Gonna poke in my head after a few months of disappearance for this:
