Minecraft = Love

I think Valve just wants to jump in on that distribution since he's so so many virally recently. I think it will be one of those future things though. Let's just hope they don't make everyone rebuy it when it releases.

Notch promised a one time payment, I doubt he'd go back on it.

I dunno.. Mount and Blade claimed the same thing, and then they bullshitted 'Warband'.

What? Mount & Blade and Warband are entirely different games. When you paid early for Mount & Blade, much like Minecraft now... you got access to the full game. Eventually it was released and you didn't have to pay.

When Warband came out, it wasn't part of that pay once thing... would be ridiculous for the game makers for you to pay once and get free access to all expansions or stand alone games.

yeah pretty sure Minecraft has multiplayer right now as we speak, lol
derp derp

Fun fact: Valve meets with developers like this for chats all the time. Don't mean a damn thing.

In other news, these texture packs are awesome:

Don't have any screenshots of the last one, but suffice to say it's meant to look like a painting, pretty neat. Currently using Doku myself, love that chunky SNES look, makes pretty much any structure instantly eyecatching.

Oh man those look good, I'll have to try them later

Warband felt like the same exact game, only they still updated it, and it had multiplayer I never played. I dunno, it just felt a little weird after I had been offered all future versions of Mount and Blade for free three years ago.

Future versions of Mount and Blade does not mean any new games made. Games are versioned. When I bought Mount and Blade it was still in an early version. Future Version of Mount and Blade would really just mean subsequent updates wouldn't require any fee. If you bought the game at version 0.5.1, you wouldn't be charged when the game was released at version 1.0, or subsequent updates 1.13 or what have you.

I don't really know where you got the whole "free versions of Mount and Blade" from, since when I bought it, it was really sold as "You only pay the price once, you don't have to pay when the game is released."

You're just being silly if you thought it included subsequent games too, even if you disagree that the changes in subsequent games are worthy of the price.

That Doku one reminds me a lot of A Link to the Past. I wonder if that's the point of it...

Ha, I just was reading a thread on the Minecraft forums and a guy made this gif. His username is Duffman3005.

Heh, I saw that a few weeks ago on /v/.

I don't understand what's happening.... what's that guy doing?

Well, I'm addicted to survival mode now.

I quickly learned to use storage chests after several encounters with the creeper.

Also, Notch is back from vacation so we should be seeing an update soon!

Notch said:
No secret friday today! I'll be 30000 feet above the atlantic ocean! But I will be posting some news when I get home.

Naw, I think hes back. Should see an update this coming week...

Here is my house. It's built right over my spawn point. I found some iron and coal really near by. I'm liking this level :)

I threw up some torches around my spawn area, I wish they could just let you pick where you want to respawn cuz it wastes sooo much time traveling back to your village/house

Cool stuff man.

I have to laugh at this regarding the painterly pack.

It's not insane at all to offer it up free. It would be insane to charge for it. I mean, the tradition of making art assets for games and distributing them free of charge, for the improvement of the communities is a longstanding tradition.

I suck at citing sources sometimes so I'd be like, "i'm using the painterly pack, look it up on google its legit...cya!"

What are the odds of turning up seeds when you til the land? I kept placing dirt, tiling it, breaking it up and re-tiling it but found no seeds. Do you have to til grass?

pretty sure if you have dirt, grass will 100% grow on there if not obstructed by sunlight

You mean if sunlight(though light in general, since torchlight will grow plants too) is not obstructed.

riomhaire. You have to till grass to get seeds, yes. You'll also get seeds by cutting down grown wheat(as well as the wheat for it too).

Note to self: Don't attempt to light your fireplace if your house is made of wood.

Atleast you have a stone blueprint.

hmm, didn't know that. also i've seen players have water that flows up to a certain point. did they just add the water block by block or was physics involved?

Yes, but it's block-physics. You can craft a bucket out of a V shape of iron bars to move water/lava. If you have irrigation your crops will grow faster.

I'm currently building a Pyramid. I have a room with an inverted Pyramid made of glass in the floor to act as a skylight. I'd like to fill it with water but I can't get it to where the waters are still. I place as many blocks as I can but there is still a current. Is there a way around this or should I give up?

Also, I have the Mac version and I can't get it into full screen mode. It will only come up as a small window... It doesn't get in the way of playing but I'd like to use all of my screen.

Try filling in the recess with something easily removable like sand or earth, so that there is only 1 block depth below the water surface, add water untill it goes still, then remove the sand/earth from underneath.

I found a huge tunnel system under the mountain that you can see here.

Died coming out of it but managed to reclaim my stuff. Found a load of coal and some iron ore. Found a spider spawner too, but didn't have the health to tackle it. I'm going to see if I have enough iron to make armour, and then go back and get that ****er.

Why escape?

That's some fantastic modern art right there!

I have no idea. I walked in and someone said that. Then I capped the screen and left because. ****.

Bad^Hat, I've never heard of that guy before, is he someone famous in the gaming community?
