Teleportation, yo!

Much like sword-chucks. I don't get it.

Dr Breen's personel teleporter requires a massive bubble, revolving force shields, and a Dark Energy Reactor.

Dr Kleiners requires a small room, a power source, power cables (and plugs, natch) and a distinct lack of headcrabs.

Added to which Breen's takes freaking ages to power up.

What's up with that?

Kleiner's teleport is for local teleportation, between point A to point B some kilometres away. Breen's teleport transports the subject not miles away, but into another dimension. And not the near-lying one like the Borderworld Xen, but to the combine homeworld, just one of a possible infinte number of alternate dimensions.

They are 2 different types of teleporter. The Combine's is string based and tunnels straight through their dimension to ours while Izzy's passes through easily accessed Xen and back to Earth.

And Xenian crystals facilitate this teleportation (maybe the combine do not have access to these crystals, or not enough of them).

Combine probably have Xen crystals (if they were on Xen) or Breen can gave them crystals from Black Mesa research. Combine can't use local teleportation because "they've failed to factor in dark energy equations" it's not problem of Xen crystals...
