Ya I used to listen to my fair share of punk through friends. Mxpx, pennywise, operation ivy, millencolin.. There was some good stuff. I don't really listen to it anymore though.
Uh..
Ska is more reggae sounding, upstokes on the guitar, accented offbeat, things like that. Listen to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones for example, they're ska. I wouldn't say Green Day was ever ska, they were more punk say in the pre-dookie days, but not ska.
I'd stick up for green day cause they're ****ing awesome.
It's all your opinion if you like their music or not, but I don't understand calling a band unprofessional? Are there rules in music now that create professionalism when followed?
I saw them live once, and Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins switched placed drumming without stopping the beat. Then Taylor went on to sing the next song. It was great.
That's probably my favorite album from them. I'd have to say they're my favorite band as well. Billy Corgan is a great song writer.
You should check out Zwan's cd; Mary Star of the Sea. The band was formed by Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin, the pumpkin's drummer, after the pumpkins broke up...
