About that girl's leg:

A 22-year-old woman remains hospitalized following a violent conflict with police on Saturday at a protest organized by the Industrial Workers of the World labor group in Providence, Rhode Island, reports the Providence Journal.

The woman, Alexandra Svoboda, was "tackled" by police during the protest and suffered a dislocated knee. She has had one surgery to repair the damaged knee and may face another, as well as physical therapy according to the paper.

The group was protesting a restaurant's use of a New York food distributor they say "is notorious for its slave labor conditions of up to 110 hours per week without basic labor rights." One of the protesters, Balthazar Ramos, said he worked for the distributor and worked "112 hours per week, was paid $4.90 per hour, and was not compensated for overtime."

You see, I've learned my lesson, too. When I first joined the force, I thought there was nothing better I could do with my life than to spend it protecting innocent citizens... and I still believe that. Even then I knew this would be a thankless occupation. What I hadn't realized was that innocent citizens like you are not only ungrateful, the tendency is to treat the police like they're enemies!

Everybody wants the crooks to be in jail, but nobody wants a prison in their community... or to vote in the taxes to build new jails. So the prisons we have are overcrowded, and the 'innocent citizens' scream bloody murder every time a judge suspends a sentence or lets an offender out on parole.

Nobody sees the crimes that aren't committed. We can reduce the crime rate 98%, and the 'innocent citizens' blame us for that last 2%... as if we were the ones committing the crimes! Nobody wants to cooperate with the police or approve the tax allocations necessary to keep up with inflation, so we can't even keep abreast of where we are, much less expand to keep up with the population growth.

So we're supposed to keep the peace and apprehend criminals while we're understaffed and using equipment that's outdated and falling apart. About all we have to work with is our instincts... and then we get hassled for using that!

I should of have been more specific. The reason why i am disgusted by cops is because they are in no way or form by the people for the people, they no longer "serve and protect". Nowadays they usually just serve as the brute force only answering to the will of the corporate governments. Sure, they help out when shit goes bad, but in this day and age were your rights are stripped away from you left and right, the police force has the authority of a God. Your rights mean nothing, they have complete authority over you.

Sure police is great, but the government holding the leash around their neck is very unreliable..

EDIT: Im also sick and tierd of being forced to empty my pockets and explain why the **** im walking home almost every time a cop sees me. I dress just like everyone else, WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS ****ING WITH ME? Is it suddenly illegal to walk? Recently there has been these weird "cop squads" walking around all over requesting to see ppls IDs. Each squad has its own leader which dresses in what almost looks like a fascist nazi look :/ and there is always 1 or 2 cop cars oozing around slowly at each street. This place is worse than freaking 1984

Ah well sorry that you get stopped like that, and I can see why you hate it. But honestly, despite all the bad cop incidents and what not, citizens today have waaay more protection from police than they did back 100 or even 50 years ago. I mean, today people have to get their miranda rights spoken to them if the police" intend to subject to custodial interrogation at the police station, in a police vehicle, or when detained". But before the 1960's, this wasn't mandatory.
