Both limit math and calculus math are basically depending on the principle which dictates that 0.9(bar) = 1 and that 0.0(bar)1 = 0. If you're infinitely close to something you have reached that thing, and you need to get your brains to stop treating the trail of 9's as finite.

There can't be a 1 at the end because there is no end, it's infinite.

It doesn't matter if there's a 1 or a 3 or a 9 at the end: the number is still infinitesimal and therefore 0.

My point was that you can not have a 1 after an infinite amount of zeroes and therefore you can not write it the way you did.
