An announcer for ESPNU has been taken off the air due to a comment he made during Saturday's telecast of the Iowa-Northern Illinois football game.

Brian Kinchen, a color commentator, will not work a game this weekend, according to Josh Krulewitz, ESPN's vice-president of public relations.

Krulewitz told The Des Moines Register Monday night that the network made its decision after an internal review.

On Saturday, Kinchen was explaining to a television audience that receivers need to make catches with their hands because they are "tender" and can "caress" the ball. He then paused and said, "that's kind of gay, but hey..."

If it were using saved animation sequences, it wouldn't be that impressive, or versatile. Even if it is controlled by a guy behind a computer, it's still impressive. Obviously the 'computer guy' wouldn't tell it how to roll its body, or move, but he may want to point the camera at something.

Clever. Was playing with some basic augmented reality stuff. Using squares and 2D barcodes to detect pieces of paper. I suppose it wouldn't be too difficult to detect playing cards based on a similar idea.

It'd be more impressive to see in real-time, I think. Still, the trick itself was impressive.

It made me feel uneasy seeing him climb up without any safety harness on! Especially when he started to move to the outside of the mast and kept switching sides! I wouldn't be able to do it, my legs would just wobble and give way. D:
