8.8 earthquake hits japan, followed by tsunamis

You're probably one of those people who laughed when the towers fell on 9/11

Hybrid's always been a dumb asshole, he just rarely posts outside of Games.

Considering you an asshole based on posts on an internet forum is cynical. Laughing at potential nuclear disaster that could end thousands of lives makes you seem like an asshole.

Cynical is saying

"The Jap government probably knew it was coming, but they didn't prepare for it"

A complete and utter tit is what you're being. You're free to laugh, but typing out "LOL" is actually going a step beyond that, isn't it? You're taking the effort to inform us all that you find the death of thousands of people amusing.

Sounds like you are butthurt. But whatever....

But thousands of japanese people didn't die from nuclear meltdown, did they?

It's not like the meltdown was going to cause a significant death casualty among the island of japan, as the people have already evacuated 10-20KM outside of the area of those nuclear powerplants.

Newreports such as NHK and Al Jazeera also reported that the nuclear meltdown wasn't going to be in size comparable to Chernobyl fuk up.

Your posts are so free from intelligence Combine Hybrid to the point where it's almost sad.

Reconsidering my position on nuclear power. I never thought of natural disaster messing with the plants. Scary stuff. Hope it's all contained.

I'm sure nobody really cares for an argument that takes up pages and pages, so I'll just say that you don't care what we think, and we don't care what you think, so perhaps the best option is to return from whence you came and not post stupid things in the thread.

Nuclear plants are fine so long as you don't build them on fault lines...hmm

Things Hybrid wants you to think:

-That he doesn't care. No really, he doesn't. Seriously.
-That he's an asshole, but not that much of an asshole.

Stop going off topic. If you can't stop straying away from this topic, then go take your own advice.

You've got problem with my posts? Stop bitching in this thread and take it up with PM.

Stop being a butthurt asshole and going off topic. Same as the other one, use PM.

The thing is, the japanese decided to build a nuclear powerplant on a coast that is frequent of earthquake. Common sense tells me you don't do that.

In an effort to not go off-topic, I sent you a PM; it's regarding the infraction I just gave you. I might seem like an automated message, but I assure you it's something I typed up just for you.

All the best,

I'm not a huge fan of nuclear power, but to the Japanese government's defence, they did make their power plants the strongest in the world. This was a 9.1 earthquake, the biggest ever recorded in Japan, so it's understandable (but I guess not excusable) for something going wrong in the plants.

I'd say it's probably one of the biggest recorded quakes ever, you don't see many getting up over 8/8.5.

I heard a Japanese porn star was killed. I haven't been able to find out who it was but it's possible that whoever it was was filming on the beach at the time D:

You know, I was wondering this.

I assumed that the Japs would have it covered, you know what they're like.

I also tried to imagine how one would make a nuclear plant from a material that is strong but not brittle like concrete, but my feeble mind failed completely.

We know there are ways to Quake-proof buildings, they have been doing that shit in skyscrapers for decades.

Maybe Japan should re-locate the plants in sky-scrapers.

That's my stupid post for the day.

You give sad face, but that's the way to go. A pornstar is just another body.

If it was Hinata Seto I'm gonna cry.

Though it's not likely that she'd be filming on the beach. More like a preschool or something.

Does anyone know how old these plants are. I've heard reports on the news that the ones with problems were built in the 70's and that newer ones have features designed in to stop things like this happening.
My only problem with Nuclear Power is that there are so many old reactors still running from a time when safety wasn't taken as seriously as it is now.

I don't think Nuclear power is really the issue, I just can't understand why they'd build them on the coast of a common earthquake zone. I mean for one you're not going to have the bedrock you have inland so the shaking will be more violent (plus liquefaction) and then the obvious issue of tsunamis. I mean you have the bonus of being able to pump seawater in for situations like this, but still that's pretty weird... considering all the other factors. I'm sure there are other reasons beyond my current knowledge though.

They did say that they were going to decommission that facility in the near future I think. I guess all the reason not to repair it now.

I watched this almost all morning today. its almost numbing to be watching it for a while so I probably won't be watching much more of this disaster. I'd rather now just live my life to the fullest if at all possible

I think we should just discuss a new topic: How Raziaar is starting to turn more and more into a judgemental prick everyday.

Say what? I was just thinking to myself today "Man, Raz is too nice for his own good." I havent seen any post of his posts passing negative judgement in a long time before this thread. And even the nicest guy in the world would call Combine Hybrid a dicknose. Even then though, Raz said it partly in jest, as dicknose is a reference to Always Sunny, and Raz needs all of those he can get if he is going to fulfill his mandatory Futurama/Always Sunny references quota for the month.

idk, every thread I come into, Raziaar just says something that gives me the mental image of a fat cow sprawled across a roman pillar, being fed grapes while his perfect sense of judgement is passed out to the peasants beneath. Like, if it's somebody that has wronged somebody else irl, be it assault, murder, or simple stalking, he always comes in nostrils flaring about how we wishes some ultra-brutal punishment, or how the person is a former shell or a husk of a human being, sticking his bovine nose in the air as it's apparent perfection gleams in the sunlight - if the subject was actually important, I'd be linking examples.

(Though that is a little dramatic)

idk, Raziaar is just starting to lose "Too good for his own good, cutesy bovine" edge, cutting his teeth so we should say. He's getting pissed off at the world like everybody else and I'm starting to lose people to look up to in that regard.

This is the best time to recruit him into your Squad for the impending HL2.net Arena event.

Dan, I don't think you realise just how often you pass down these judgments yourself. Namely: all the ****ing time.

Enough derailment, this is a thread for discussion of a news event.

Speaking of derailment, have the trains that went missing during the tsunami turned up?

Honestly, I am more concerned about the situations around the nuclear power plants.

Sure, the Japanese authorities are saying there's no major danger at present time but the Japanese government is known to heavily downplay danger in these situations as to not cause panic.

I know that one of the NPPs are first generation and lacks several safety features of modern NPPs, which namely means if the specific reactor goes from the current partial meltdown to a complete meltdown the amount of radiation that will leak out into the surrounding area and the atmosphere will be substantially greater than it would be with modern NPPs since they are all designed from the ground up to "contain" as much as the radiation even in the case of a complete meltdown.

^Why are you posting a shitty video by an either extremely shitty YouTube conspiracy-nut or an amazingly awesome YouTube troll? I think you should be ashamed for even posting that video here, Mr. DEATH!
